Our Founder

Chanel Evans received her BS at Old Dominion University in May 2011, majoring in Sports Management with a focus on marketing and a minor in Exercise Science. She has interned and worked with the American Cancer Society and the Washington Redskins in various fundraising and marketing positions. At a young age, Chanel demonstrated a passion for volunteer and community service, and has contributed significant hours to various community service organizations while in high school and college.

She currently works for Galderma Laboratories as a Dermatology Sales Professional and plans to continue her education within the next few years, pursuing her Masters in Business Administration. She has made it her life mission to serve others and sow into the lives of young girls in the DMV (DC, Maryland and Virginia) area and beyond. It is this desire that led her to form A Bigger Picture, Inc., an organization designed to empower and guide young girls to reach their highest aptitude. Chanel is a member of the Fairfax County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Our program Leaders

Natasha Thomas received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree of Business Administration with honors and concentration in Project Management from Strayer University College. Natasha is a dedicated management professional with over 10 years experience impacting organizational performance and loves to build leadership, confidence and planning skills within youth.

Shatoni Hill received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from Daemen College in Amherst, NY, a Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Trinity University in Washington, DC and is also a certification for Christian Counseling and Discipleship from the Lancaster Bible Seminary, formerly known as Capital Bible Seminary. She currently works as a Mental Health Therapist in the Washington Metropolitan area working primarily with individuals and families. She is a native Washingtonian with a passion for young people, especially those in inner city communities. She has made it her life mission to give of herself to benefit the greater good of others.

Tanya Thompson is a native Washingtonian and Norfolk State University alumni. She is equipped with over 15 years of experience in finance and organization management. Ms. Thompson is very passionate about serving in her community and is committed to empowering youth, promoting leadership and entrepreneurship skills. She is actively involved in, and serves as a volunteer with, the Feed the Hungry Ministry and Merge Youth Ministry with her church.

Board of Directors

Toya Evans, President
Toya L. Evans is an author, speaker and businesswoman with an MBA from Howard University and a BSBA from George Washington University. Her experience spans over twenty years in marketing and strategic consulting with large corporations such as General Electric, Microsoft and America Online. Additionally, she has spent considerable time as a small business consultant. She is the owner of a publishing company, Haci (ah-see) Publishing, which is responsible for the publication of her book as well as the works of other new and aspiring authors. She also runs national program development for Emmy-award winning journalist, Ed Gordon for his non-profit www.daddyspromise.com.

Robin Pope-Brown, Vice President
Robin Pope Brown is currently an Assistant Principal at Friendly High School. She holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Special Education. During her 17 years with Prince George’s County Public Schools, Mrs. Pope-Brown has spent 12 years at the middle school level as a Science Teacher and as an Assistant Principal. From 2009-2012, Mrs. Pope-Brown served on the Executive Board of Excellence Christian School.

Lauren Williamson, Board Member
Lauren Williamson is an experienced sales professional with over 8 years of experience leading and developing sales teams. Currently, Lauren is with EMC, a leading provider of storage hardware solutions and has held multiple sales and management roles within the organization such as Enterprise Sales Development, managing a team of over 20 Sales Representatives and Account Manager for New England. Lauren has a passion for helping young women pursue educational goals and her community service includes mentoring,
volunteering, community service, resume help, and coaching for interviews. Lauren Williamson received her BSBA, Marketing from Old Dominion University.
